WHY ME?

I have been an Edmontonian for the past 35 years. It’s been a wonderful place to call home. The past few years have been a challenge, and as your next city councillor I will focus on making Edmonton a safer, more affordable, business friendly city. As a PACE candidate, you can be assured that I follow the covenants I pledged to do: get value for our tax dollars, keep Edmonton safe, be open for business, do the basics efficiently, and be accountable to you, Ward Anirniq.

I was raised in a farming community 90 minutes north of Edmonton. Growing up in a town of 250 people, these values were engrained in me early and guide me daily.

I attended NAIT for business and Concordia College for an Arts Degree. Most recently, during the Covid years, I was accepted into the masters program for psychology.

My work experience? Five years as a successful realtor, 20 years as a developer, completing projects in Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Arizona, Ohio, and Florida.

Most recently, my wife of 28 years and I bought into a local company employing 70 people. I have a tremendous amount of experience working with different cities to make responsible zoning changes and community engagement.

In my spare time, I’ve been a member of toastmasters for over 20 years, coached soccer for 20 years, taking teams to Seattle, Hawaii, and Las Vegas, fundraising well over $100,000.

I am passionate about making Edmonton the best city it can be and believe we can get there by bringing back a common sense, priority based budgeting (PBB), and making public engagement mean something.

MY VISION FOR OUR COMMUNITY

I believe in Edmonton. I believe in the spirit of our community, the generosity of our people, the willingness to do what is right. We've lost our way a bit, and I am open to anything that helps us find it.

Edmonton is blessed with a lot of green space. Let's utilize this in ways that bring communities together. Here are some ideas for Ward 2:

Outdoor pickleball courts in 3 of our neighbourhoods
Community BBQ areas for families to meet
Land for seniors and 50+ communities
Community day weekends with tournaments and games

I’d love to hear your ideas!
